Probably a couple of ways to do that. Don't really think you need a plugin to do that.
We utilize our Component field for that. Then just make some queries based on the component. Other option is to make a ticket type for Hardware It should not matter if they share the same one up numbering scheme, as long as you can organize the tickets through the queries to distinguish the departments. Also am thinking could add a field called Department with those two choices and use that.
