After sleeping on it, I realized that I could have included more information about what I tried. I install all of the modules I could need. I succeeded in making httppasswd authentication work. That one isn't supported by the registration module. The other authentication schemes either gave me a python stack dump or didn't recognize my existing users. Even when I reregistered a user, he never received his confirmation e-mail. Basically, I followed all of the instructions I could find on the wiki and in the cookbook. Nothing gave me a completely working Trac. My google-fu is strong and I used google extensively and still failed to make Trac work as I need.
