You can specify connection parameters in the database connection string. 
The supported parameters are listed here:
http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/DatabaseBackend#MySQL

I don't have much experience configuring  MySQL, but I'm guessing you need 
to append unix_socket to point to the location of mysql.sock on your 
filesystem. 


Thanks, RjOllos.  I gave that a shot but unfortunately the error remains 
unchanged.
