I just created a custom field with name "customer" and label "Customer
Visible" to denote certain tickets, in order to prepare views for
customer discussion, excluding lots of bugfix tickets. That all works
fine following the directions at
  https://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracTicketsCustomFields

and I can create a custom query and include the field.

However, the display of the field shows "True" or "False", and I find
this unhelpful in quickly scanning the list. I'd like it to say "yes"
or "", meaning that the display would have a blank cell if it weren't
true. Really "True" or "" would be fine.

Perhaps I should change to select and use "yes|" as the value list.

But, I wonder how others feel, and if there's an easy way to have the
cell be blank for False (where easy includes patching the source).
I wasn't able to figure it out quickly from the python code.
