Are you using an explicit "restart" command? If so, you could try "reload"
or "graceful".
When I was porting the trac-hacks.org server to a new host I remember
reviewing the logrotate configuration. There was a post-rotate command to
restart the server. My memory is fuzzy on it, but I think I read that
"copytruncate" can be used instead of restarting the server before/after
rotating the logs. The commands we use now are:
daily
copytruncate
missingok
rotate 7
compress
delaycompress
notifempty
