Hi,
I am in the process of installing Trac with fink. So far I installed svn
and sqlite following the instructions at
http://projects.edgewall.com/trac/wiki/TracOnOsx with no problems.
Clearsilver, pysqlite, and Trac, however, don't seem to be available as
stable packages.
Being relatively new to fink I am a little hesitant to intall an
unstable package. Does anybody have made good or bad experience with
this way of installation? Is there a better alternative (that works with
the fink-installed components)?
In general with Fink, the only thing to worry about is if you have
enough free cycles to support compiling a bunch of packages. :) You
will have to switch over to having all of your fink setup running on
unstable, as far as I know. This isn't a big deal, I've run unstable
many times quite successfully, and you can even come back to stable
later once the packages make it there. If the unstable version is
reasonably up to date, I'd recommend going that way over trying to
compile all those packages by hand, if you have the time to let it run
unattended. They're not hard to compile by hand, but I like getting my
package updates for free when I do fink update.
