Good call. That cured it. I originally built Python with threads. But
a client needed an application that required Python without thread support.
I rebuilt it and everything previously installed worked as expected. So
never thought about it again. Needless to say, that _one_ application
that required no thread support will simply have to suuffer. :)

In other words, something is wrong with either your sqlite or pysqlite
installation.
