I am running on rhel3 linux.

When I try the 'from svn import core' as you suggested I get :

>>> from svn import core

Traceback (most recent call last):

  File "<stdin>", line 1, in ?

  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/svn/core.py", line 19, in ?

    from libsvn.core import *

  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/libsvn/core.py", line 4, in ?

    import _core

ImportError: libswigpy.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file
or directory
>>>

Clearly the shared library being missing from my system is causing the
issue. This library is not on my disk, so must need to be installed. I
assumed this would be installed in the swig packages that I have
installed, but clearly not.

The rpm's I installed are :

db42-4.2.52-0.1.i386.rpm
db42-debuginfo-4.2.52-0.1.i386.rpm
db42-devel-4.2.52-0.1.i386.rpm
db42-utils-4.2.52-0.1.i386.rpm
swig-1.3.25-1.i386.rpm
swig-debuginfo-1.3.25-1.i386.rpm
subversion-1.3.2-1.rhel3.i386.rpm
subversion-tools-1.3.2-1.rhel3.i386.rpm
subversion-debuginfo-1.3.2-1.rhel3.i386.rpm
subversion-devel-1.3.2-1.rhel3.i386.rpm
subversion-perl-1.3.2-1.rhel3.i386.rpm

subversion-python-1.3.2-1.rhel3.i386.rpm

mod_dav_svn-1.3.2-1.rhel3.i386.rpm

Can you help me find out why the libswigpy.so library is not installed
anymore ?

Thanks,
Tim

This means the Subversion bindings couldn't be imported.
Check the log, verify PYTHON_PATH, PATH or LD_LIBRARY_PATH
depending on the platform, and try to do
'from svn import core' from the python command-line, etc.
