Hi all,
I've got a trac-0.9.6 system that's been working seamlessly for months
now. It's an apache-2.0 server with python-2.3 running on Windows 2000.
Every now and then I've read that it makes a difference whether one uses
python 2.3 or 2.4, so I've been wondering if I should prepare to update
the python runtime one day. Is that true?
What are your experiences regarding terms of stability, performance...
or else? I'd be happy to hear from you.
From a programmers perspective, I like 2.4 much better than 2.3. It
just has a few nice things that make life wonderful. As far as
stability wise, I haven't had any issues with it. However, most of my
work is done in linux. I also don't know if you'll notice much of a
difference in running trac under 2.3 vs 2.4.
If you do decide to go to python 2.4 on windows, you'll have to manually
update your subversion bindings. The 2.3 svn bindings work for 2.4, but
you have to use a hex editor change the version number inside the C
modules[1]. It works, however, I haven't put it under any sort of load.
