Poppler 0.5.x is required by Tracker but perhaps it is possible to downgrade the required version. I did not look at the old API from Poppler 0.4.x. Since PDF metadata extraction depends on Poppler, you cannot obtain metadata without Poppler being installed... So, two options: 1/ try to use old Poppler API from 0.4.x versions if it is possible; 2/ do not build Tracker debian packages with PDF support. And it seems that debian packages are missing dependencies on SQlite3 and QDBM...
