Hi,
Debian's Linux 2.6.24 source has over 24,000 items all consuming over
260 MB of real estate. Running it on a Core2 Duo 1.5GHz desktop and
turning smart-pausing off, I get the following:
* time taken to index it < 4 minutes
* time taken to delete it in db < 2 minutes
* time taken to rename the folder ("linux" to "linux_") < less than 2 minutes
* LowMemoryMode on ~ 17 MB
* LowMemoryMode off ~ 21 MB
Interestingly, each memory mode performed the same.
One bug surfaced while doing the testing:
* After doing a rename and then later delete the "linux_" folder while
db is still renaming, the renaming proceeds 'till the end before the
delete actually happens in the db. We have to wait for "moving
linux/file to linux_/file" for each file and folder, instead of just
deleting the thing in db.
By the way, the indexing speed has been improved 3 times -- it took 14
minutes for indexing Linux some months ago, with r1015.
Another thing is that Tracker rocks hard, such that I can't wait for
0.7 and Xesam. Thanks all...
