Short answer is no, we're using gstreamer in the generic extractor for image files and it doesn't seem to provide any data to extract. However, the mimetype is detected and nfo:Image is set for the file. Either a new specific extractor could be developed or gstreamer could be improved to extract at least basic data, the latter sounds more useful.
