You're barking up the wrong tree. Go complain to Garmin. Once they support APRS operations through the FMI on all the Nuvi line, then you'll have your wish.
Scott was able to find a "flaw" in one model, and exploited that to be able to get APRS icons to show on the map. It's a waste of time making noise here, as we have no control over the decisions made at Garmin. Make noise over at Garmin where they have control over the product "at fault".
