I looked up your call on QRZ and saw that you are north of Port Huron. My immediate suggestion is that you hook up the 2800 first as the digi coverage in your area isn't too great. The default beacon setting for the configuration of the OT2m ( once you get it ) will work just fine for you. However, don't be discouraged if your tracks seem to be missing large sections. That will be due mainly to the area that you're in doesn't have good digi and igate coverage to get you into the APRS-IS. To get a feel for what's around you, go to aprs.fi and zoom in on your area.
