Probably need a null modem cable, or even a simple 3 wire cross over,
that is pins, 2 to 3 , 3 to 2  &  5 to 5 in place of your male-male adapter.

  hi folks, tried connecting a standard serial to usb cable w/ a male-male 
adapter to the ot2m tonight and i cant even get win7 recognize the 
cable....anyone have a similar problem with win7? I tried all kind of ways to 
get it working....the cable came w/ a cd which i tried installing the drivers 
for first, then plugging in the cable, then tried plugging it in and letting 
windows figure it out, but no go.
