This time *I* need a bit of help ;-) I've spent a long time searching
on Google, but still not solved my problem. I thought someone here
might have encountered the problem.

As those of you who also read my blog will know, I had a hard drive
failure early this week, and have been struggling to reconstruct
everything [1].

MySQL was one thing which didn't survive the Migration Assistant, so
I decided to reinstall, using the binary packages available from the
MySQL site. That went fine, and it runs, I can create databases and
so on.

mysql  Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.27

I also followed Dan Benjamin's instructions [2] for building the
native MySQL gem properly. That also worked (as far as I can tell):

$ gem list mysql
*** LOCAL GEMS ***
mysql (2.7)
MySQL/Ruby provides the same functions for Ruby programs that the
MySQL C API provides for C programs.

The problem is that Rails is just not loading MySQL when it runs.
Here's the output from script/console, for example, but I get a
similar error plus a 500 when I try to load Tracks:

  $ script/console
Loading development environment.
./script/../config/../config/../vendor/rails/activerecord/lib/
active_record/connection_adapters/mysql_adapter.rb:7:in
`define_all_hashes_method!':RuntimeError: Mysql not loaded

Does anybody have any ideas how I can fix it? I was hoping to get
some development done this weekend, and this is seriously cramping my
style!

Thanks,

bsag
