I've added the following to the manual:

And finally, bash’s readline shall not use key bindings like
‘C-j’ to commands. Disable reading the readline
initialization file:
[ $TERM = "dumb" ] && INPUTRC=/dev/null

I don't use bash myself; could you pls check whether this works as expected?
