I changed it finally that the default is set for XEmacs as well. Check
the CVS.

The problem was, that FTP defaults have been set the same time. This
is usefull for GNU Emacs only.

Since I've moved those settings to tramp-ftp, the default for the SU
method is applicable in general now.
