Please disregard my bug report on this subject. The bug is real, but Richard Stallman believes it is a makeinfo bug and has asked them to look into it. It is always difficult to figure out, short of debugging it oneself, whether a bug like this is a bug in the tramp documentation, a bug in Emacs or a bug in makeinfo.
