Harshal Sheth, a student at MIT Research Science Institute (https://www.cee.org/research-science-institute), under the sponsorship of Sam and Tom at Akamai, wrote a paper on certificate transparency. Quoting from the summary: “This paper uses Certificate Transparency to conduct an overall survey of the SSL certificate ecosystem, as well as identifies a number of certificates that are either cryptographically weak or in violation of CA standards.”
