We are a provider (hospital). I am trying to figure out when to send a 837 institutional and when/if to send a 837 professional. In some cases a patient's stay in the hospital will have some charges billed on a UB92 and other charges for the same stay be billed on a 1500 depending on what the insurance plan wants. Would the charges on the UB92 go on an 837 institutional and the charges on the 1500 go on an 837 professional? Or would they all go on an 837 institutional since we are a hospital?
