Title: IMPORTANT: Ambulance transport destination NOT part of 837 v4010!

Jennifer,

I think there was a discussion on another listserv, HIPAAlive, about this issue.  I am not sure if the listserv has archives but it might be worth looking at.

Subject: IMPORTANT: Ambulance transport destination NOT part of 837 v4010!

Ambulance provider representatives in attendance at the latest X12 meeting brought the issue of destination information not currently being part of 837 v4010 to the Healthcare claims work group. These representatives voiced strong concerns that this information was needed and should be included in the current mandated version of 837 (v4010).

Payor representatives in this workgroup, other than two Medicaid carriers, did not see issue with destination information not being sent in this transaction set. The Medicaid carriers admitted that destination information was not used to adjudicate the claim but rather used for audit purposes.

NOTE: This information will be included in the Ambulance Attachment and has been added to the next version (v4050).

If you are a payor that requires transport destination information to adjudicate and pay ambulance claims, please post an email to the X12 837 Listserve [EMAIL PROTECTED] or reply to me personally ASAP.

Thank for your assistance and prompt attention to this matter.
