I am inquiring about the scope of usage for the 278 Request/Response
for Prior Authorizations and Referrals.
We currently are trying to compile an assessment for Children Youth and
Families Division of New Mexico. This department deals with child abuse
victims, mental health assessment, residential treatment centers, foster
care, children protective services and so on.
ICD-9 codes are standard for diagnosis codes in the HI segment under the
subscriber table within the 278.
The diagnosis codes stored and maintained within various organizations of
CYFD utilize DSM-IV codes that are not covered by X12N 278 External Code
Sources.
Question 1: Are these type of authorizations covered within the scope of
278?
Question 2: Are DSM - IV codes covered within External Code Sets #131
International Classification of Diseases Clinical Mod
(ICD-9-CM) Procedure?
