The regulations for Code sets state the following:
"162.1000(a) Medical data code sets. Use the applicable medical data code sets....that are valid at the time the health care is furnished. (b) Nonmedical data code sets. Use the nonmedical data code sets...that are valid at the time the transaction is initiated."
Sometimes what changes is not the code but the description on the code.
Question: Do we have to keep an history of the changes to the description? Could we process under the code (it hasn't changed) with the new description without having to go back to a version of he code with a slightly modified description?
