The
rationale for the statements is this: Some Adjudication systems (for
Professional Claims) takes a the earliest from date recorded in any of the lines
of the claims and the latest to date of the lines in the claim and creates a
Claim Level Date Range. For example:
Service line 1 - From date = 01152002 To Date =
01152002
Service line 2 - From date = 02122002 To Date =
02122002
Service line 3 - From date = 02232002 To Date =
02252002
When
this payer's system records a Claim Level Date Range it is
20020115-20020225.
The
authors of this IG took this into consideration and tried to craft language that
didn't force all payers to have to support line level search criteria when in
fact their systems didn't allow for it.
