presently a HIPAA Implementation Guide, but the functions specified by this
Guide are related to communicating health care information. This

Announcing a Public Review Period for 277 Request for Information in
Support of a Disability Claim Implementation Guide (004050X164)The ASC X12N Request for Information in Support of a Disability Claim (277) Implementation Guide (004050X164) is now available for industry review. This guide has been developed by X12N TG1 WG3, which is the Workers' Compensation/Disability work group within the Property and Casualty task group of the Insurance Subcommittee of X12. X12 is an Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) under ANSI (American National Standards Institute). The purpose of this guide is to: � � � The guide was developed based on existing request formats supplied by industry representatives. The existing request formats included both proprietary electronic request formats and paper formats provided by disability determination services. Disability carriers were asked to comment upon the early drafts of the implementation guide and to provide any additional data requirements. The guide is based on version 004050 of the ASC X12 family of standards. The public review period will commence July 8, 2002 and will close on August 30, 2002. The authors will review and discuss any and all comments following the public review period. Official work group responses will be sent to the individual commenter who submitted the comment and will be posted to the on-line conference. All work group responses will be posted at least 15 days prior to the corresponding Informational Forum. This is the only public review period. For a complete understanding of changes being made to the guide, reviewers should monitor the on-line conference during the public review period and review all author responses prior to the Informational Forum. Watch for the announcement of the corresponding Informational Forum. The Information Forum is the final opportunity to comment on modifications based on the public review period comments.
