Title: RE: Trace number

In my opinion, no, they should not have the same trace number.

However, there is nothing preventing someone for submitting a 276 with multiple claim requests that have the same trace number.  The information source (e.g. payer) should not assume a unique trace number being provided on the 276 for their own processing requirements.

If the information requester (e.g. provider) wants to reconcile the individual requests on the 276 to the corresponding individual claim status responses on the 277, then they better provide a unique trace number for each "question".
