In
answer to your first question - yes you can modify for internal processing. I
believe most payers are utilizing the information on their internal files for
processing anyway, and just storing what comes in from the sender. As for what
goes out on the 835, there is an NM1 segment (pg. 108 I believe) to
return corrected information.

names, and date of birth, is it OK to modify this data for internal
