I thought I was being helpful buy maybe not...here are some
clarifications:
1. A thorough gap analysis of every transaction is not in our scope.
Most of our vendors are not ready to implement beyond the 837/835, so at
this point there is no ROI justification.
2. The 837/835 transactions are critical, and worth the time on our
major applications. The time we spend up front clearing up matters will
no doubt pay dividends compared to the cost of paying IT techs to
repeatedly test transactions due to missing data that could/should be
found up front.
3. Once you get into the guides, you will see a certain repetition of
how is it layed out and it all starts to take on a twisted logic. And
yes, your billing people will be able to recognize most of the billing
terms, and your techies the tech related terms.
4. Talk to your vendors. When they tell you they have added all
required fields, ask for a list and compare it to what you have learned
in your gap. Then ask about situational fields. The results may be
surprising.
My opinion only of course....
