Unfortunately, any list of Addenda changes would be unofficial at this point. Although X12N has moved all of the Addenda guides forward for publication, the final answer must come from the Department of Health and Human Services. As I understand it, HHS is hard at work on a Final Rule for the Addenda with a target date for publication before the end of 2002. The Final Rule could amend the regulations, which could have varying effects on the transactions themselves.
Some of the many items being considered for claims include: when and how to use J-codes vs. NDC codes in both the Professional and the Institutional claims, and when and how to use Provider Taxonomy codes in the Institutional Claim.
All of the Addenda guides were published as Draft documents in October 2001. Five of the guides have changed since that time, while the others have not changed anything. The five guides that have published changes within X12 are: X093A1 Health Care Claim Status Request and Response X094A1 Health Care Services Review – Request for Review and Response X096A1 Health Care Claim: Institutional X097A1 Health Care Claim: Dental X098A1 Health Care Claim: Professional
The remaining Addenda guides have not changed. They are: X091A1 Health Care Claim Payment/Advice X092A1 Health Care Eligibility Benefit Inquiry and Response X095A1 Benefit Enrollment and Maintenance X061A1 Payroll Deducted and Other Group Premium Payment for Insurance Products
The above list describes the guides that X12N has changed within the past twelve months and which guides have not changed since October 2001. Until the Final Rule is published, however, nothing is official.
