Hi,

I was thinking on this topic from a fair amount of time, but it seems
the time is gone, so I'd like to share my thoughts and ideas about
finally releasing 1.1.0.

Expected timeline: when it's done! (see below). Anyway, I'll try to find
some time to increase development speed in order to go at least in beta stage
in time for Christmas (2006 ;) ). Summertime will hopefully help me on this
field.

What will be on this release?
- all this already is in current CVS plus:
- a few more fixes (see mp3 issues recently emerged in transcode-users), plus
all [feasible] bug-fixes that will emerge in the meantime.
- a deep review for still problematic code, if any and if it's REALLY
annoying; I'm thinking to our directory input handling code.
- brand new export layer currently in development on CVS. This means new
modules and updates to transcode main binary to use they (dropping old style
  modules).
- all existing export modules ported to NMS and split in encoders/multiplexors
  if needed.
- new encoders/multiplexors: h.264 module through x.264 and full native ogg
  stack: vorbis/theora encoders, ogg multiplexor.

And, from my side, save ALL other stuff for post-1.1.0 (i.e. deeply review on
import layer, new low-level input handling code replacing tccat, dvd handling
improvements, new filters, porting filters to NMS and much more).

It's an hard decision, but since my hacking time it's painfully low, something
will be (_temporary_) left behind :(

Any comment will be appreciated.

Best regards,
