That's one of my major concerns during development. The actual hangup it was caused by a sum of circumstances, that was not only a fault of the framebuffer. But probably it's worth doing a further step back and retry fixing 1.1.0 using old framebuffer code. I'm also convinced that in HEAD it's (very) worth go ahead with new approach. Working on.
