I'm happy to announce that gtranscode2.py was just added into the transcode's main HG repository. Curious users beware! The code is still extremely young and just incomplete. Consider it just a preview. Fellows pythonistas beware! The code deserves a massive amount of PEP8 love and still a lot of polishment.
