They represent the (video) streams parameters that transcode expects from source.
In other words, they are defaults :)
That represent mostly a legacy issue, I'm thinking to remove them enterely for 1.1.0

Yes, they are PAL defaults, since transcode was born in a PAL nation :)

P.S. If someone wants to add a description of what the
output means to the tcprobe man page, I wouldn't object :-).
