That aim to be both of above, with focus on cleanup, since we're hurry (well,
hurry given our resources) to release 1.1.0, so there isn't room for a deeper
review.
Anyway, I have plans for a full rewrite. Stuff for 1.2.0 and beyond.

Of course. In a nutshell, there is a new promising interlace/telecine filter
on the block,

We already have so in 1.1.0, as well as aac encoder module, rewritten
libavcodec and lame modules.
They are written as part of new-module-system (in short: no longer export
modules, but encoder/multiplexors splitten) effort.

Unfortunately, such effort was not completed in time for 1.1.0, so
they will not shipped with new release :(
