Can separate streams from a52_demux be recombined as surround a52/
ac3? And if so, how?
Basically, I have a project I am working on help some students with
as a way to get them used to using FOSS software for once, and to get
their hands dirty (so to speak) using some nitty gritty tools and the
command line.
I am having them rip a dvd of mine (Fifth Element), add in the
RiffTrax for it directly, then reburn a new DVD, or serve it over a
streaming server. I am using the commercial DVD as it has a known,
high-quality surround ac3 stream.
I see that transcode can separate an ac3 stream into six separate
audio files. But can they be recombined/reconstituted as an ac3
again? My thinking was that it would be "better" to layer in the
RiffTrax to the center channel.
(I have already had them successfully do this after transcoding the
ac3 to a stereo mpeg2 stream, but would like to be able to operate on
an ac3 stream and keep the surround information if possible.)
Thanks!
