Peeps,

I have an irregular request to make.

For some time now I have been using transcode to happily provide super efficient storage of home entertainment at a respectable quality, and now I have a task to perform which involves producing a range of data covering a series of different profiles and levels for different codecs.

The only trouble is I can't find a definitive information - trove that will explain to me the meanings of the profiles and levels so I can reproduce them with settings in transcode with some level of confidence in what I am doing?...

Actually this would also be a good IN for me to start getting a better grounding of video media and encoding in general...

... Can anyone point me towards the assistance I need?

Specifically I have to produce data for H.263, H.264 and mp4, and some other, but I would like to get as much grounding as possible....

Also can anyone point me to a good tool for producing MIME wrapped files?

Thanks hopefully,
Best Regards always,

Iain MacGranthin
