OK. Let's summarize.
1. export_ffmpeg in 1.0.x could not initialize x264 encoder. Still not
clear if it's a local problem or a transcode one
2. encode_x264 in 1.1.x leads to segfault and/or to floating point error
Anybody interested please reply here if I've forgotten anything.

That seems to be the current state. I tried the new transcode 1.0.5rc3
version. I ran an initial test with just a null input/output and I
thought it worked and found a h264 encoder. However any attempt now to
repeat this brings me back to the same can not find encoder message, so
now I'm not sure if it really did work of if I'm just going insane.
I was thinking of trying to download the latest CVS version, to see if I
can get that to work, is this a good next step?
