Everything is possible, given enough time (or money, but that doesn't
apply for transcode so far) :)

Speaking for myself, I do not have serious objections to put jack in,
but neither I have serious motivations to do it quickly.
I find the status of high-level audio servers confusing at best.
Jack looks like a bit out of scope for transcode, pulseaudio is
emerging...

The most important showstopper is that I do not add support for every
server out there: we just do not have resources to mantain all of those.

So, to summarize,
- I don't have any objection to merge, in HEAD, a well-written third
  party patch;
- Writing such patch isn't in my short term plan;
- I want to see how PulseAudio grow up;
