[transcode-users] lavf?

How is libavformat support for 1.1.x  transcode?  mencoder sort of
supports it... it can talk to the library, but the results are not always
what I would hope for... I am not sure if it is the implementation has
previously been focused so much on AVI... but I am not sure how
much different transcode 1.1.x is in that regard.  I guess I am
wondering if it is better to just output raw streams and then use
separate tools (mkvtoolnix, mpeg4ip, ...) for import/export.
