Hi list

New versions of Pootle and the Translate toolkit have been released
last week. The announcement for the Translate toolkit is in a separate
mail on the translate-devel list (and the translate-announce list).

Some new features include:
 * Pootle now serves pages based on templates - this will make it much
easier to customise the look of your own Pootle installation
 * A new look
 * The PNG images should now look reasonable in Internet Explorer too
 * Fixed a subtle layout problem where the whole height of translations
don't display properly - more feedback from users of non-Latin scripts
needed
 * Performance improvement especially for big trees of PO files (due to
improvements in the Translate toolkit)
 * Preliminary support for regional codes, like pt_BR
 * Better merging support on file upload
 * Default configurations (like plurals) for many languages
 * Better support for non-ascii goal and user names
 * Version information for Pootle, the Translate toolkit and jToolkit is
displayed on the about page and when Pootle is run with --version
 * Translations are now shipped with Pootle

Version 0.9 of Pootle was released with 15 translations of which 4 are
100% complete. We intend to release shortly with updated translations,
and hopefully in many more languages. Pootle can be translated and
tested at http://pootle.wordforge.org - the accounts of those who
registered at the temporary server a week ago have been carried across
to the new server and should work without problem. Hopefully we will
soon be able to carry across accounts from the old Pootle server as
well.

The release files are available for download at
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=91920&package_id=144807

Note that there are new dependencies to run Pootle starting with version
0.9. The dependencies for running Pootle are:
 * The Translate toolkit version 0.9
 * jToolkit 0.7.8 or later (http://translate.sourceforge.net/snapshots/
 * kid (http://kid.lesscode.org/)
 * elementtree (http://effbot.org/downloads/#elementtree)
 * PyLucene is optional, but helps to speed up searching

The 0.9 release is also available in CVS under the wordforge-0-9-branch
and the live documentation is available on the wiki at
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootle
