Thanks for the compliment, Lorenzo!  We hope to improve the look and
feel more in future. 

You can just install over the old installation.  You don't mention from
which medium you are installing, so I'll assume it is not your
distribution's packages, but the pootlesetup.py installation program. A
normal install will simply overwrite the old one, so be sure to make
backups of your old setup. If you feel for hygiene, you can remove the
previous files first, but I don't believe this should make much of a
difference, except if your preference files are currently stored in the
default location - they will be overwritten by the blank new defaults
from the new version. 

No changes to your apache should be necessary.
