Dear list.

I have problem with installing pootle.
When I installed kit, it required setuptools-0.6a11-py2. But there is no this
version on http://cheeseshop.python.org/packages/2.4/s/setuptools

Is there any requirements?

Greetings, unfortunately the current kid version has a bug where it
tries to download an older version of setuptools which isn't listed on
the server (exactly the issue you've run into). A new 'ez_setup.py'
script is needed and can be located here:
http://peak.telecommunity.com/dist/ez_setup.py .

Replace the ez_setup.py file in the kid directory with one downloaded
and it should work fine. The kid devs have been notified and will apply
an update with their next release.

Each time I see a mail like Kakada's, or see an install problem on #pootle, I wonder how many people we're losing because of install difficulties. How many people just don't have the time and wherewithall to follow up those problems and debug their install?

Users want something to "just work". We need a way a Pootle install can do that.

So I'm still strongly in favour of an install script or installer of some kind. I know you guys have a lot on right now, but please don't let this one fall off the ToDo list.

I speak as your PR rep. ;)
