Hi list

New versions of the Translate toolkit and of Pootle were released
today. The announcement for the toolkit is in a separate mail on the
translate-devel list (and the translate-announce list).

This is a minor release but has several improvements and a few new
features. Version 0.10 or later of the translate toolkit is needed for
Pootle 0.10.1. Important changes for upgrading from 0.9 versions are
documented on the wiki at
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootle/important_changes

Changes include:
  * Fixed some svn properties which caused problems with some images
  * Display the server description on the front page (can contain HTML)
  * Display the project description on the project page and in some
tooltips (can contain HTML)
  * Pootle now displays navigation links in view _and_ edit mode. This
allows for easier navigation in a file while editing. Using one of these
links automatically changes the interface to view mode.
  * Tweek some display settings for a few languages (the bug with huge
text in some Asian languages is now fixed, for example)
  * Fixed the problem with long location identifiers (#: comments) as is
common in OpenOffice.org PO files
  * Bring back the administrate link on the home page next to language
if the user is a project admin.
  * With the assignments of rights or files, only show the users that
selected the language in their options.
  * Move 'About this Pootle server' link to the footer on each page.

  * Fixed a few errors with non-ascii goal names
  * Implement password confirmation on registration page [Contributed by
Charl van Niekerk]
  * Enable functionality for users to change their passwords

  * Enable copying text for plural messages too. [Contributed by Djihed
Afifi]
  * Make special characters clickable [Contributed by Djihed Afifi]
  * Handle language preference better across server restarts.
  * Allow changing interface language with immediate effect at user
options
  * Properly convert between locale style (pt_BR) and web style (pt-br)
dialect codes. This means that automatic selection of all dialect codes
should also now work.
  * Add some more languages to the default configuration
  * Improved the comments in pootle.prefs with examples of the above
  * Translation updates
  * All translations are now packaged, even the ones with very few
translations
  * Import minor fixes (mainly typo's) from Debian Pootle package
(Nicolas François)
  * Fixed a bug in updatetm which expected the wrong format in the notes

Knows issues:
  * po2ts of the translate toolkit inserts extra spaces and newlines
resulting in slightly wrong Qt .ts files. This could affect people who
want to download in Qt .ts format.

We have been running the release candidates for 0.10.1 for some time at
pootle.wordforge.org and translations for many languages are already
complete. Please continue to update the Pootle translations for your
language.

The release files are available for download at
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=91920&package_id=144807

Note that there are new dependencies to run Pootle starting with version
0.9. The dependencies for running Pootle 0.10.1 are:
 * The Translate toolkit version 0.10 or later
 * jToolkit 0.7.8 or later (http://translate.sourceforge.net/snapshots/
 * kid 0.9 or later (http://kid.lesscode.org/)
 * elementtree (http://effbot.org/downloads/#elementtree)
 * PyLucene is optional, but helps to speed up searching. It has been
confirmed that Lucene searches can have slightly different results.
Lucene also allows for a special query syntax. I recommend that people
test this for their purposes to determine if they want to install
PyLucene.

The 0.10 release series is also available in SVN under the
wordforge-0-10-branch at
https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/translate/src/branches/wordforge-0-10-branch/

The live documentation is available on the wiki at
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootle/index
Not all new features are documented yet at the time of this release, but
should hopefully documented very soon.

Please report bugs at http://bugs.wordforge.org
