Still couldn't do it. So I did a better script to update my local,
partial, array of gnome-2.16, gnome-2.18 and off-release PO files; the
only problem is it depends on l10n-status.gnome.org, which won't work
starting from tomorrow...

Progess.gnome.org runs "Damned lies", a Python software which does a
job similar to l10n-status.gnome.org. Maybe Pootle could somehow used
"damned lies" code to import/sync to the GNOME SVN without external
(bash) scripts?
