Hi list New versions of the Translate toolkit and of Pootle were released today. The announcement for the toolkit is in a separate mail on the translate-devel list (and the translate-announce list).
Pootle and the translate toolkit are the leading Free tools for online localisation management and translation. This is a bugfix release, but also contains a new feature or two. Version 1.0 or later of the translate toolkit is needed for Pootle 1.0. Important changes for upgrading from earlier versions are documented on the wiki at http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootle/important_changes Changes include: * Some patches to improve platform independence of pathnames [Contributed by Lars Kruse] * Support for symbolic links to objects checked out from version control * Escapes are indicated in a different colour * Correct the behaviour of the fuzzy checkbox for users depending on their access rights (bug 266) * Add some special characters for all Chinese locales that can't be easily typed with input methods [Contributed by Abel Cheung] * Several patches to improve the behaviour of Pootle when configured at a specific base URL (such as http://yourserver.org/pootle/) * Use the built-in ElementTree package in Python 2.5 * Updated translations (among them a new translation into Wolof done from French!) Pootle ships with interface translations for more than 35 languages. (http://packages.debian.org/unstable/source/iso-codes) * PyLucene is optional, but helps to speed up searching. It has been confirmed that Lucene searches can have slightly different results. Lucene also allows for a special query syntax. I recommend that people test this for their purposes to determine if they want to install PyLucene. Note that current versions of jToolkit require pre-2.0 versions of PyLucene.
