Hi Jean If you are interested in some of the features of Pootle, they are documented on the wiki: http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootle/features To find the contextual meaning of the messages you quote, the easiest is if you use Pootle yourself to see exactly how they are used. You can also set your browser to English / French or whatever other languages you understand, to see what other translators have done. If you translate Pootle online, you can see the translated strings appear in the user interface as you translate them. This way you can test the translation while you are translating and get greater confidence in it while you use Pootle more. Also note that we constantly try to provide more comments about the messages where it might help, so if you translate the newest file online, there might be more comments to help you than the one of version 0.11 (which is already old - we have recently released Pootle 1.0.2). Are you familiar with the concept of variables in software translation? Many of the messages you ask about involve the %-type placeholders (usually called variables), so it might be of benefit to read about them in our localisation guide: http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/guide/start The page about variables is here: http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/guide/translation/variables When you translate on Pootle, Pootle has several checks to help check the quality of the translation. There is also a check for variables, that might help you identify if there is a problem in your translation of the variables.
