With a bit of work some of the dependency of Virtaal on lxml can be
removed, but it is probably easier just to get lxml working.

I would recommend you add the directory containing lxml/ into your
PYTHONPATH as well. I hope that lxml will still link against the correct
version of libxml2 and libxslt - trying should do no harm.
