Hi list

As previously announced, the 2.6 release was cancelled. This decision was
made after technical issues severely impacted our ability to progress on
the release without rewriting large parts of the infrastructure. Today, we
would like to share more details on the upcoming Pootle 2.7 release that
replaces it.

Pootle 2.7.0 will be the first release based on the Pootle "Core" branch,
the fruit of collaborative labour between Evernote and Translate. It is a
major rewrite of several long-standing problematic components of Pootle,
and a significant UI overhaul.

Due to all these internal changes, we will be releasing two releases at
once:

   1. *Pootle 2.6.0 "Transitional"*: This will be a purely transitional
release, in other words you cannot run Pootle using this release. Upgrades
to this release will be supported from previous Pootle versions. This
release will be the minimum upgrade requirement for all releases beyond
2.6, which means users of older versions of Pootle will need to upgrade to
Pootle 2.6.0 before moving to Pootle 2.7.0. Pootle 2.6.0 cannot be used run
production systems, it is merely intended as an upgrade step to Pootle
   2.7.0.
   2. *Pootle 2.7.0 "Core"*: The final Pootle Core release. This is what
we're moving towards right now. This will be a production ready version of
Pootle, though initial releases may still not be feature complete when
compared to the features in Pootle 2.5.1. You will want to evaluate the
features that you use on your current deployments to see that they match
with the features in this release before deploying.
