I haven't investigated since November (00). At that time I got the
impression most mfgr's were still interested in protecting their turf.

I have no idea whether that issue is being worked, but if it is being
worked,
it will likely be worked in TIA TR41.1. I don't even know who is the chair
of
that body any longer, Steve Whitesell is now the chair of TR41.
So let's ask TIA Staff if anything is going on, and if not why not.
